In the initial stage of rock tumbling using a rotary tumbler, this 60/90 mesh silicon carbide grit is employed. Approximately two level tablespoons of grit are used per pound of rock. Fill the barrel with rocks until it's about 2/3 to 3/4 full, then add two level tablespoons of grit for each pound of rock. Finally, add water to nearly cover the rocks.
